Vintage Flooring & Receiving the Inspiration…

So I’m working and minding my own business and along comes this flooring.  The way the creative side of my brain works is to thankfully stop me in my tracks to admire what many don’t notice at all.

At first, I was just admiring it for the vintage amazingness (this is a word in my world) which… come on – so good. But then, as I looked at it a bit longer, I realized that my brain was actually spinning something else about this tile…Christmas decor.  Those of you who know my bizarre ability to spot a Christmas tree before I’m even in the same room with it probably aren’t shocked by this.  But what I’m saying is this: Always be open to inspiration.  Yes, I was working when I saw this – but not so caught up in the details of THAT to see something great before me.  I say in my intro page that inspiration should come from everything we see and I truly believe that. Or at least my brain does. Because I can’t say that I KNOW I’m doing it…it just happens now. I’ve learned to always stay open while on vacation, in hotels and other public spaces, really just about anywhere.

The holidays are clearly a massive visual sensory experience as you’ll see decor of some sort nearly everywhere you turn. But don’t simply look at it as what it is. Visually pull out the pieces that speak to you and use them in your own way.

So what is it about this tile that said Christmas decor to me? Do you see white snowflakes and subtle red ornaments on a beautiful antique green background?  Hhmmm…

Find it where ever you are people. Relax and take it in wherever you go.
