My Exterior Renovation: Progress!

I am so excited with the progress on my backyard remodel project!  It’s that weird time in the construction though where the big, obvious and visually clear things are over with…and the little things start to happen each day.  You know, those days where I walk out back and say to myself “Self, what the heck was accomplished today? Cause I don’t really see anything.”  I mean, I DO know what’s happening and don’t reallllllly feel like nothing is going on…but that’s only because I have the plans and the schedule and can actually check things off the list.  But man…it sure is tough to keep from being disappointed when I walk out and don’t SEE much.

Ok so what DID happen?

The walls are all in and my french door is in!

The electric has been run.  We’ll have plenty of outlets, switches and overhead task lighting.  One thing I specialize in is the lighting and electric plans.  Why? It’s important to make sure you have plenty of outlets in usable places. The key word is USABLE. Living effectively includes making sure you have the very basic conveniences if and when you can put them in.  Outlets where you naturally need them – not where the builder regularly places them – is one of those basic things most people never consider taking any control over.  Many of the outlets in my house are quads.  I have 4 plugs where the electronics like the entertainment center or gaming or computer areas are instead of the standard 2.  Anyway…I digress…electric is in!  We’ll talk more about my specific plans for the outlets once we get to a more finished state. (But I still say it’s an often neglected part of people’s remodel plans).

And as of today…THE ROOF TILES ARE ON BABY! Houston we have a dry roof. These garages have leaked (and therefore have been useless for storage) since the day we moved in and now that will be a thing of the past.

Ok!  So that’s a lot of progress.  I’m excited to be moving along towards some warm days relaxing in my new space.
